YouShow Lab Choreography instruction by Anderson

“Walk” was developed as a location-based performance film shaped by the forceful camera language of NCT 127’s original performance. The production brought the choreography into multiple spaces at Bloomington GO Station, using the station’s darker industrial architecture as part of the visual identity.

The collaboration included Anderson, a YouShow Lab instructor and former participant in NCT Universe: LASTART. His detailed teaching and the dancers’ strong preparation allowed small choreographic adaptations to be translated cleanly into the final camera work.

Behind the Design

Pre-production involved detailed analysis of the original performance video. The reference was separated into wide, medium, and close camera layers to study movement, timing, angle changes, and transitions. A complete storyboard was then developed for the location and the dancers’ version of the choreography.

The camera design retained the energy of the original while adapting object-led transitions, changes in distance, and scene-to-scene movement to the station. Several distinct station areas were selected so the environment could evolve throughout the film without losing visual continuity.

The lighting approach was intentionally restrained. The station already provided a cool, dark, workshop-like atmosphere, so a single 300-watt key light was used selectively to preserve facial detail while keeping the surrounding space natural and moody. Changing locations and repositioning the light extended the production to approximately four to five hours, but allowed each section to retain its own composition.
